In 2016, the Department of Defense (DoD) established the Office of People Analytics (OPA) to utilize big-data analytics to better understand key components of Service, such as members’ career paths, their families, and even civilian life outside of the Military. Ultimately, the OPA uses this information to help determine how policy or environmental changes affect the performance and composition of the DoD workforce.
